Defining Needs |
 |
Design & Development |
|
 |
 |
| Our application specialists and design
engineers will work with your product development team to
identify parameters and requirements for your new brake or
friction design. We evaluate torque, size, pressure, temperature
and a variety of other factors to determine and prioritize
needs. For many of our customer’s applications, our
unique experience in both mechanical brake and organic friction
principals assists in effectively defining and understanding
requirements. |

|
|
 |
| The Carlisle design team has extensive
experience in developing solutions that fulfill our OEM customer’s
goals for performance, reliability, speed-to-market and cost
effectiveness. We will start with a “clean sheet”
design and/or refer to our 2,500+ standard part numbers that
often provide a starting point for solving a stopping or clutch
problem. Our engineers utilize the latest design and modeling
software to optimize the design for both operation and manufacturability. |

|
 |
Testing & Verification |
 |
| All Carlisle designs undergo extensive
laboratory and field testing to ensure actual performance
meets all theoretical models. Our testing facilities feature
tools such as electron microscopes, chemical and thermal analysis
equipment, structural endurance test machines and a variety
of inertia dynamometers. Our sophisticated and often custom
designed test equipment allows us to effectively simulate
real world conditions and confirm engineering premises. |

|
 |
Prototyping |
 |
| We have consistently invested in the
technology and equipment to provide our customers with quick-turn
prototypes. Following our initial product design recommendations,
we apply the mechanical and thermal aspects into a prototype
build to demonstrate the product’s performance and evaluate
manufacturing options. Our ability and willingness to prototype
new designs provides our customers with a greater degree of
confidence the final product will satisfy all of their requirements.

Manufacturing & Quality |
 |
Carlisle uses LEAN manufacturing concepts
to deliver the world class quality and consistency that our
customers demand. The efficiencies gained from our manufacturing
procedures enable us to produce small volume and high run
products. We monitor critical phases of the production process
with data logging capabilities. As testament to our quality
commitment, all of our facilities are ISO9001:2000 certified
and we have received top quality ratings from OEMs such as
Caterpillar, General Electric, Whirlpool, Wichita Clutch and
many others. |
